So the biggest goal I gave myself last year was to read through the Bible. I did it. I even got done with Revelation a few days early. I gave myself this task because I had a lot of questions. I could think of no better place to find the answers than God's living word.
So this year (not a goal, just something I want to do for myself) I want to type down all the bookmarks I made while reading through the Bible last year. I think it will be interesting to see what verses struck me enough for me to bookmark them.
So here it goes:
I didn't bookmark anything in January and no verses until Leviticus (these are all NLT).
Leviticus 17:11 - for the life of the body is in its blood. I have given you the blood on the alter to purify you, making you right with the Lord. It is the blood, given in exchange for a life, that makes purification possible.
Leviticus 19: 33-34 - "Do not take advantage of foreigners who live among you in your land. Treat them like native-born Israelites, and love them as you love yourself. Remember that you were once foreigners living in the land of Egypt. I am the Lord your God."
Numbers 23:19 - God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?
Deuteronomy 8:5 - Think about it: Just as a parent disciplines a child, the Lord your God disciplines you for your own good.
Deuteronomy 8:11, 14 - "But that is the time to be careful! Beware that in your plenty you do not forget the Lord your God and disobey his commands, regulations, and decrees that I am giving you today. Do not become proud at that time and forget the Lord your God, who rescued you from slavery in the land of Egypt."
Deuteronomy 10: 12-13 - "And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you? He requires only that you fear the Lord your God, and live in a way that pleases him, and love him and serve him with all your heart and soul. And you must always obey the Lord's commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good."
Deuteronomy 15:10 - Give generously to the poor, not grudgingly, for the Lord your God will bless you in everything you do.
Deuteronomy 22:5 - "A woman must not put on men's clothing, and a man must not wear women's clothing. Anyone who does this is detestable in the sight of the Lord your God."
That was the end of February. And for some reason I didn't have any bookmarks again until June. I guess that could have been due to the new baby or the fact that Kaylee was in the middle of her delayed intensification phase...maybe ;-)
