So Proud of that girl!

Kaylee and I went to watch Alexis's class plays this morning. I'd like to say I'm not being biased, but Alexis as Mrs. Dazzle had to be the most entertaining part of the whole show! The class did about 10 different plays and she was in three of them...but that part had to be the best. She talked in this high pitched voice and her costume was just to DIE FOR!

It was so hard to leave her afterwards...that's probably why I don't go in and volunteer in her classroom...that and I have Kaylee around and I can't take her with me. Anyway, she did a wonderful job. Sorry to those of you who couldn't make it to see her...you really missed something great!

Hooo Rah!

One girl out of school...one only 2 1/2 days away from being out! Yay! Then they are all mine!

Our pool is opened...only a day late this year instead of a couple of weeks. We got to spend some time there on Sunday afternoon.

Since is was raining yesterday, we took the girls to see a movie. We saw Night at the Museum. It was entertaining...the girls really liked it.
Well, that's about all I have time for today!

Out with a B-A-N-G!!!

The end of May is shaping up to be quite hectic! With the end of schools and other family things...hopefully we can find some spare moments to just have some normal fun.

This week we have Gold Medal ceremony for Alexis at Avon Middle School, a hair appointment for me this evening, church audit tomorrow evening (at our house too), Nursery school program Thursday morning, music rehearsal Friday evening, Karl and Erica moving to the new house Saturday, and finally Sam's baptism and Sean-y boy's wedding shower Sunday. And Katie is coming to meet the doggies after that. The good news is that the pool opens this weekend!

Next week should be a little bit lighter schedule. I have a dentist appointment on Tuesday. Then on Wednesday, Alexis's class is putting on some plays. Thursday is only a half day (and the last day) of school for Alexis. Then Friday, Ryan and Alexis have appointments with the eye doctor. Saturday there are graduation celebrations! That will leave me two weeks to get the house ready and everything packed and all the church things put in order for our vacation! It's creeping up quickly, but I'm ready to be there now! Heck, I was ready to be there as soon as we got in the car to head home from there last year!

Little Helper

We always seem to have a lot going on! We decided to take advantage of some good car deals and this past Tuesday we bought a minivan. It's a Grand Caravan...brand new...only 23 miles on it. The girls were really excited. Of course their favorite place to sit is in the "back-back". It's like their own little world back there! Every time I drive the car, I like it more. We were one of those couples who said we'd never get a minivan, but they are just too convenient and a lot easier to get in and out of than a three row SUV. Plus in an SUV you lose cargo space when you stick that third row in there. The girls are REALLY enjoying it! They watch all kinds of shows and movies when we're riding around...now Kaylee can even watch Tom and Jerry on the go!

Kaylee and I did some plant shopping on Friday. She helped me pick out some perennials for one of our flower beds. She picked out some 'step-able' ground cover and some dianthus - two pink, one raspberry swirl. The only specific plant I was looking for was an Autumn Brilliance Serviceberry. We needed to replace our Jap. Maple...well, we just moved it to a drier location hoping it will perk up. After we got home and ate some lunch, Kaylee came out and helped me plant all of our new plants. She did a great job raking away the mulch, digging the holes, and filling the dirt back around the plants. Once it started sprinkling though, she decided "she was too much of a sweet girl and she might melt" and she went inside.

We also had Ryan's birthday last week. The girls and I surprised him with an "Iron Gym" pull-up bar that he can take on our trip to Florida. And now he's thinking about getting a new grill with his birthday money. We didn't get to go to the driving range or anything like that for his birthday this year, but he has played golf the last three days in a row!

We went to Terre Haute for Mother's Day this weekend. It had been a few years since I got to spend Mother's Day with my mom. We had a really nice time hanging out. We also celebrated Brian's graduation. Of course, today I've already been asked 5 times when we're going back to "my mommy's house". I think the girls are going to be in heaven when we're spending two whole weeks with Gramma and Grampa! That's something I always hope we get to do, since we don't live close enough to see each other on a weekly basis. Don't get me wrong, going to Florida is nice, but I don't think it would be nearly as nice without Mom and Dad there. I hope we reach a time when Val and Roger and their families can join us too. Now that would just be too good!

I am soooo ready for this school year to be over. It's been a long one, but at the same time it's flown by really fast. I just can't wait to have my girls here with me all day. They're both home today (Alexis was a little under the weather) and it is just so nice! They're such good girls and so much fun. I just love watching them interact...they are just so loving with each other. I hope they grow up to be really good friends!

Just Plain Crazy!!!

We had such a busy, BUSY weekend! You know, we did so much yesterday that I can't even remember what we did on Friday! As I'm sitting here, the gears are in overdrive just trying to remember, Aaaahhhh! Anyway, I guess that comes with being older:)

Saturday, Ryan left bright and early for the Mini-marathon. As we do almost every year, the girls and I parked in front of the TV hoping to catch a glimpse of "Daddy". For the first time in the 6+/- years that Ryan has participated, we actually saw him! Kaylee was so giddy she almost cried! We saw him on the track and he seemed to be doing pretty well. Though he told us afterward that that was right after he actually had to stop to catch his breath. I guess he was suffering from oxygen deprivation and had those nasty stomach cramps that go a long with it. Amazingly though, he was able to finish the race.

While Ryan was on his way home, the "guys" came to plant our big tree! However, while they were planting I kept thinking to myself, "That doesn't look like the tree we picked out." But the top had been cut off, so I thought maybe that was it. But then the trunk didn't look as big as I remembered and there were a lot more leaves that were a lot bigger than I remember. We had picked out an October Glory maple....and this didn't look like one. About the time I was ready to go out and ask if they had the right tree, Ryan drove up. He went out to ask them and sure enough...it was a pear tree, not a maple. Apparently, whoever loaded the truck, put the wrong tree on. The "guys" came back out later that afternoon to plant OUR tree and it is absolutely beautiful! We were also able to plant our weeping willow that they delivered, so our backyard has gone from one tree to three! It's amazing what a couple of trees does to the look of our backyard! To end our Saturday, the four of us went to Taco Bell for dinner, Lowes and the grocery store.

Sunday was Music Sunday at church. We had a brass quintet playing for the service and they sounded great. Then we had a delicious birthday lunch at Gramma and Grampa's house celebrating Ryan and Cathy's birthdays. Ryan and I had to eat and run because we were attending a "presentation" so we could get some free airplane tickets. The salesman didn't waste much time on us (I was kind of surprised he wasn't a lot more pushy). I think he figured we were too smart to be schnookered into something. And he's right ;-) Then we had Morning Song rehearsal that evening. I didn't eat supper until 9pm...crazy! Though I did have Starbucks around 6pm and that always fills me up for some reason.

This week is going to go by quickly I presume. I have a lot going on. Today, I'm going to do my best to sand and paint over the nail-pops that I fixed last week. Of course I keep finding more places that need patched as I'm working on the others. The Drees warranty dude is coming out today to take a look at the leak in our basement. I'm guessing we just need a gutter and maybe some sealant, unless my diagnosis of where the leak is coming from is incorrect. Tomorrow I have my intro class to BSF while Kaylee's at school, then I have a lunch/play date with Cathy and the boys (I love that that's plural now). Then this weekend we're heading to Terre Haute to spend Mother's day with my Mama. I think the last time I got to spend Mother's day with her was when Val and Brian got engaged...three years ago! Brian's graduation is also this weekend and I'm sure the boys have some sort of golf thing planned....tends to happen when you get those three together ;-)

So, I thought I should post while I have the chance this morning. Hopefully I didn't wear anyone out!
I may find some time to post pictures of our tree.
